Iain Ferguson is a research fellow at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow. Previously he has held research and teaching positions at the St. Petersburg and Moscow campuses of RANEPA, the St. Petersburg campus of HSE, the University of Edinburgh, the University of St. Andrews and the Univeristy of Tartu. He holds a PhD from the University of St. Andrews and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Iain specialises in Russian and Eurasian security, interpretive research methods and international political theory. He has published one monograph, two book chapters and a special issue of Geopolitics (featuring two of his articles). Before going into academia, Iain worked in political journalism for three years, for openDemocracy.net. He also spent a year in Central Asia as a research advisor to international organisations, including the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the World Bank.
